OFW status at quarantine facilities at Pier 15.

In a bid to provide temporary accommodations for our returning Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and Seafarers, who will be undertaking their 14-day mandatory quarantine, two (2) 2GO passengers vessels have been commissioned by the Department of Transportation (DOTr) to serve as quarantine ships, and a COVID-19 Treatment Facility has been opened at the Eva Macapagal Super Terminal in Pier 15.

The current status of the said quarantine facilities, as of 3 May 2020 are as follows:

• For the COVID-19 Treatment Facility at the Eva Macapagal Super Terminal, a total of 203 repatriates, which comprised of 202 land-based and one (1) sea-based, are now taking their mandatory quarantine.

• For the two (2) 2GO quarantine ships, a total of 72 repatriates, which comprised of 66 land-based and six (6) sea-based, are onboard the MV St. John Paul II, while 17 repatriates, which comprised of four (4) land-based and 13 sea-based, are onboard the MV St. Anthony De Padua.

Today, there is no confirmed COVID-19 positive case in the quarantine facilities and the 292 repatriated overseas Filipinos remain healthy and show no sign or symptom of the virus.

Since the start of its operations on 11 April 2020, a total of 260 individuals have completed their mandatory quarantine period and have been sent home to their localities, while 78 OFWs are now awaiting transport to their respective home provinces or cities, jointly arranged by the MARINA, licensed manning agencies (LMAs), Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), Philippine Ports Authority (PPA), and the DOTr.

The assistance provided for our repatriates forms part of the COVID-19 response efforts of the DOTr, the PPA, PCG, and the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA), in cooperation with the Lopez Group of Companies which donated P100 million funding support for the establishment of the COVID-19 treatment facility, 2GO, and Asian Terminals Inc. (ATI).
